Artist's Comments
The guardian of the north is a black tortoise (commonly seen with a snake wrapped around it).
Correspondence: The color black, the element water, the season winter
The guardian of the east is a dragon.
Correspondence: The color blue/green, the element wood (that surprised me a bit, seeing as how Chinese dragons usually have power over water), and the season spring.
The guardian of the south is a phoenix.
Correspondence: The color red, the element fire, the season summer.
The guardian of the west is a white tiger (sometimes a kirin).
Correspondence: The color white, the element metal, and the season autumn.
The center correspones to the color yellow and the element earth. There's also supposed to be a golden dragon there too, but I already drew the east dragon and adding another one would've cluttered the picture.
I tried to make the seasons look like Chinese watercolor paintings, but it looks like I failed at that. Enjoy anyways.
